The year is 1871 and businessman Johann Jakob Zimmerli sends his wife, Pauline, to Basel to learn how to operate the recently invented knitting machine and bring her expertise back home with her. This was the impetus for the future success of this family-run company and its outstanding products. Pauline Zimmerli recruited her first employees and, in 1874, she developed the 2-needle knitting machine. Her discovery revolutionised the production of ribbed fabrics and underwear. Today, the brand is known worldwide. You will find their collection at Maison Degand.
